Christmas and the kitchen sink

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

Merry Christmas everyone, I know it’s a little late, and I’ll give you a hug if you read that in professor Farnsworth voice!! Christmas has come and gone again. I will miss my favorite holiday and think about getting more decorations on sale. I think April was pleased with her goodies, I know I was!!! Thank you again sweetie!!! We had an awesomely lazy day, cooked and set up a mini buffet on the coffee table and had dinner and watched some movies. I of course made my phone calls and April made hers. I’m glad her dad called her! Since Christmas she has read 6 books and started some too. That’s 6 books in a week, she did get the kindle fire early. I’m glad she likes it!!

So I entered my first giveaway last week, although I did not win I am very pleased to say that April did!!! Yay for free brownies. And Yay for Sarah for doing the giveaway!!! Thank you again!!

That pesky kitchen sink has finally met its match, I hope. After being clogged for a while I decided that I wasn’t going to lose this war. And April’s encouragement, well her yearning need for a kitchen sink, pushed me to it. It took all 25+ feet of the snake to get it. But I ran lots and lots of hot water through and poured a about 3/4 of a gallon of boiling water down the drain. I think it’s fixed!! Yay!!! I really like doing the handyman type things that most people hate or call someone to do. I know April appreciates it and I know our wallets do too.

I think I’m not going to post about farts anymore.

The house is clean; dishes done, clothes folded, vacuumed, straightened stuff up, just the usual chores. I think we’re about to go grocery shopping!! We’re having pizza night twice this week, AWESOME!!!!!

I hope everyone that reads this, all two of you, had a very merry Christmas!!

A little about me!

Thanks to my wonderful wife for nominating me!

I guess I broke the picture, sorry. I’ll describe it. Close your eyes and imagine a box with a bee buzzing around in it. Then the words “tell me about yourself award” appear and underneath a banner is placed saying “your blog is great”
Got it?

Here are the rules:
1. Thank the person who awarded you.
2. List 7 things people may not know about you.
3. Pass it on to 15 (!) other bloggers and don’t forget to notify them.

1. I have competed in a jump rope competition, I didn’t win.
2. If I didn’t have auto correct, none of you would understand what I was saying. Because I suck at spelling.
3. I won first prize in a 4H tie-dye competition, my shirt was shown at the Louisiana state fair!!
4. I don’t give my animals cute names, like fluffy or tiger, because I think they need real names to have a personality.
5. The first video game I ever beat was The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. That’s what started my love for LoZ games!
6. I get my toe nails painted every couple of weeks, because my wife likes to do it, and I don’t mind.
7. I am to this day, still scared of the dark!

I don’t know 15 other bloggers, so umm, I’ll pass on that rule!!

The last and final straw

Monday, December 12th, 2011

So Friday I’m heading to work and the oil light comes on, there has been a bit of an oil leak so I have to top it off every now and then. So I stopped and put oil in the car, the light went out and I thought it was fixed. We backed out and drove maybe ten feet and it was back on. I tried to make it to work, but on the way to work the car was making a horrific noise and was acting like the engine was about to seize up. I pulled over and called my boss and let him know I wasn’t going to be able to make it. Thankfully I have a very understanding boss!! So we made it home and tried to figure out what to do next. I called lots and lots of part houses and the dealership to find the oil pump. But alas it’s a dealer only part that has to be special ordered and paid for up front. So my darling wife texted a friend and she let us use her car for the rest of the weekend.

Then came more challenges, finding my wifey a ride to and from jury duty. But luckily she has some awesome friends that were able to help us out, and she was excused as well!!!

More things also, but here is neither the time nor place to speak of it in my opinion.

A lot has been on my mind today, maybe that’s why I have such a bad headache. I am very thankful for the friends that we have and the people who have been willing to offer me any advice or guidance. Mostly I am thankful that no matter what or how I feel I know I can always turn to my better half and get a hug and kiss and a I love you, and for me that makes everything ok. It’s like everything I’m dealing with gets pushed back and I can look at all my options from afar and understand them better. I love you sweetie, thank you for being my Xanax!!

Go check out Off the Deep End and my wife’s blog

Not the blog to talk about this in.

More car trouble!!

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

So more car trouble. We have had a slow leak on the back passenger tire for a while now, and the other day I took it to the tire shop to see if he could find a nail or whatever it was making it lose air. And boy did he find it!

So we have to buy a new rim, and no one local has one.

Our kitchen sink is clogged, I’ve tried plunging and a wire coat hanger. I asked to borrow the snake from work but the guy said he has it at his house. So I will hopefully get it Friday. I’m glad that the water goes down in it at least and isn’t sitting there being a very large water bowl for the cats.

Nothing new in that category, sorry folks.

Tonight I saw snow, not a lot but some good size flakes. I’ve always loved the snow, I hope we get a lot like we did last winter. It was nice playing in it.

My head hurts and I want to spend time with my family, goodnight everyone!

My first guy blog

Sunday, December 4th, 2011

So, this is my first guy blog. Not that I have written a girl blog. But this is the first post of my “guy blog.”

First things first, Lady Bacon!! If you know what it is, great!! If not then stop reading now.

It’s getting close to Christmas, and I must say that I do love this time of year! I decorate the house and get very festive. We have a few yard decorations, but not much. Monday I am going to do some shopping, because our tree looks awfully naked without gifts under it.

Back to more manly things.

Today I had to work on the car. The POS, don’t tell it I said that, started leaking gas. I have had to replace the fuel pump twice in it, but blessed be the engineers decided to put an access panel in the trunk. It’s not that hard of a job, but who likes smelling like gas? So, the ring that seats the fuel pump came off, and last night I filled her up and some gas leaked out. The problem is fixed for now. Also, I have worked on this car a fair amount, and dare I say it, it’s not that bad to work on even though it’s a front wheel drive. Unlike the ford, but that will be another post entirely.

And now for something completely different!!

How can this be a manly blog without farts? So I will speak of my flatulence often! Today while at work I had some stank ones, so I decided to share. As I was leaving I let a very nice one rip as I walked through the kitchen, crop dusting 3 people. It’s one thing when you walk by and you stink, but everyone knows a fart when they smell it. I got a couple chuckles and one glare. But he will get over it.

Last but not least, I will talk about my wife, April. She has her own blog , and she writes for this site. I am very proud of her for writing again. I’ve always loved reading anything she writes. And since she has started blogging it has made me read more and start stalking her online friends so I can keep up with what’s all going on. I love you my darling wife, and I am very proud of you!
